Learn the essentials of photography every photographer needs to know
The fundamentals of photography are the most important ideas and concepts you will need for success in your photographic journey. In this class, you will learn about each of the important concepts necessary for creating compelling images. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the core concepts applicable to every genre of photography.
What you’ll learn
- Key components of exposure: shutter speed, aperture, and ISO
- How to set your exposure perfectly for every situation
- How to utilize the various focusing options with your camera
- How to read light and use it to your advantage
- What key accessories can help your photography
- How to compose compelling images
This class is a great start for anyone new to photography, but it’s also valuable for those that have been experimenting on their own, or those returning to the world of photography. In this hands-on class you’ll learn how to work your camera and see the world in a new way.
This highly visual learning experience will include example photos, illustrations, animations, and 23-page color handout with important notes from the class. Bring your camera to class as you’ll be learning where important features are and how to use them. This full day class is informative and fun, you’ll walk away ready to capture beautiful images on your own photographic journey.
Students are encouraged to bring applicable camera equipment to the class.

This in-person class is 8 hours and includes a 1 hour lunch break (lunch is not provided).
